Sparkling, young, and unconventional – just like the winemaker herself

Johanna Markowitsch’s passion for wine was practically ingrained from birth. As the daughter of renowned winemaker Gerhard Markowitsch, she had access and insight into winemaking from an early age.

Alongside a marketing education and early career steps in the marketing department of a well-known wine trading company, she initially focused on the traditional wines of Markowitsch, which reached a younger audience. However, her focus has now shifted back to the roots of the "Markowitsch" brand, emphasizing its origin and tradition.

Starting with her own brand "JoMa"
In 2019, the young winemaker launched her own line, "JoMa," which, according to her, is "serious, but not boring." The line reflects the natural purity of winemaking—playful, without additives, and an easy-going natural wine. "A bit of roughness – with pulp and stems pressed together," says Johanna Markowitsch.
